The record behind the record: how Smilepad UltraFresh powered a Guinness World Record for menstrual hygiene.
On World Menstrual Hygiene Day, a Guinness World Record was set for the most sanitary products donated in 24 hours. Behind that record stood a quieter one, the work of making 300,000 pads worthy of it.
On 28 May 2025, in Mumbai, Alembic CSR and Team Elena (Alembic Pharmaceuticals) set a Guinness World Records title for the “Most sanitary products donated in 24 hours”, 300,000 sanitary pads placed into the hands of women and girls who need them. The pads were Smilepad UltraFresh, produced and packed by Smilepad, the feminine care brand of Nibhana Consumer.
A record like this is measured in a single number. What it does not show is everything that has to be true for that number to exist. Three hundred thousand units, produced and packed to a standard a Guinness adjudicator can verify, ready on time, without a single shortcut. That is the record behind the record, and it is exactly the kind of work Smilepad was built to do.
The pads donated that day were not a special batch. They were UltraFresh, the same everyday pad, made for real bodies, long days and ordinary comfort, that reaches shelves across India. A girl receiving a pad through a donation drive gets the same product as a customer who buys one. For us, that is the whole point. Dignity is not a lesser grade.
Access to menstrual products is still out of reach for millions of women and girls in India, and the cost is counted in missed school days, missed work and a quiet loss of confidence. A single day does not close that gap. But it shows what becomes possible when manufacturing capability, a clear cause and the will to act line up.
This is how we build. Understand the need deeply. Make the better product accessible. Build with the discipline that lets you say yes to 300,000 units and mean it. And keep the promise every product makes, whether it is sold or given. It is the same standard we hold across every brand in the Nibhana Consumer family. A world record is a good day. Holding that standard on an ordinary Tuesday is the harder, more important record.
Congratulations to Alembic CSR and Team Elena, and to everyone at Smilepad who made the number real. The record is theirs. The work continues.
